I’m Katie McNeill, owner of Townhouse Upholstery which is based in Whitley Bay in the North East. After ten years spent working in events and marketing, I was ready for a change and fell in love with upholstery, not only as a craft but as a way to channel my love of interiors and textiles.
I started my learning with Peter Robson of Ponteland, before going on to train at the Ministry of Upholstery, the UK’s leading modern upholstery school, in Manchester.
Now, I spend my days working on client commissions, restoring old pieces of furniture or producing custom made items from scratch. I also work on my own collections using furniture and fabric designs that I love, and which are available to buy at any time through the shop.
Please get in touch if you’d like me to help restore your old chair, or make you a customised piece to complement your home. I can advise on fabrics, designs, durability and always use the finest products for an exceptional finish.
